What's New This Week??
12/1 - 12/5
12/1/14 - Welcome back after Thanksgiving break!! As we return back to Social Studies, we will start Ch. 22 this week. It is a very short chapter on the Progressive Movement in America in the early 1900s, and the Presidencies of Theodore Roosevelt, Taft, and the start of Wilson's term. Today we will begin with defining the term progressivism: what is it and why was it important? We will follow this up by beginning to read p. 639-641 in our book and take some notes.
12/2/14 - Today we will look at the life of Theodore Roosevelt through some videos, as well as look at some of his policies, especially the Square Deal, and how it affected the lives of Americans.
12/3/14 - Today we will look at Roosevelt's conservation movement and his creation of America's National Park system. We will first define conservation, and then look at what Roosevelt did to help maintain America's natural beauty.
12/4/14 - Today we will look at the Progressive Amendments: the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th. We will clarify them and then distinguish what makes each of them important to us today.
12/5/14 - Today we will wrap up Ch. 22 by looking at the changing role of women in 20th Century America, especially the Women's Suffrage Movement.
