What's Happening This Week? 9/15 - 9/19
9/15/14 - As we start Week #4 at Central, we reach the halfway point of Ch. 19. Today we will first begin our look at how Westward expansion began to affect the lives of Native Americans on the Plains. We will focus on how the U.S. government would continually make promises and then break them. We will read from the text as well as take Cornell Notes as tables. For homework, students will read about the Battle of Little Bighorn and analyze a map. Custer's Last Stand Worksheet
9/16/14 - Today students will begin to study what it was like for settlers to live on the Great Plains. Students will watch a short video documenting life on the Plains, and then create an imaginary family's life on the Plains through a comic strip. How to create Frontier Comic Strip
9/17/14 - Today we will begin our biweekly studies on the history of Chicago. We will first look at a timeline that shows Chicago's history before 1860. Then we will watch parts of the PBS documentary City of the Century showing actual pictures of early Chicago.
9/18/14 - Today we will finish up our look at life on the frontier by sharing our comic strips and then completing notes on Ch. 19, Section 3 in class.
9/19/14 - Today we will look at a brief current events article together as a class, and then continue to share our research from our Ch. 19 Research Projects!
